If what the 1-3 star reviewers say makes sense, I take heed. Also, I was wondering who Robert Stanek was, and congratulating myself on having somehow avoided his loads of nonsense. THEN I realized - The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches!!! I was tortured by the whole set on audiobook a few years ago. I never realized the author was famous - I thought he was a one-hit-wonder (or a one fail wonder, as I felt at the time).
