Talion: Revenant Comments

Talion: Revenant (Michael A. Stackpole)

This is some of the best heroic fantasy out there, and it's Stackpole's best work yet. It's also his first fantasy book. What sets it apart from other similar books is the heavy dose of pathos pervading the novel. It's not a "happy" type novel; there is a deep sadness that rings through the prose. But the characterization of Nolan, the hero, is fantastic, and it features a good plot. Nolan is forced to choose between love and honour.

Subject: A great book

This book is one of the finest I've read in several years. I would easily place it with Elantris, another of the ones I'll enjoy again and again. Far deeper than what is written, they are literature. Highly recommended

Subject: I just finished reading Talion:Revenant

and I thought it was incredibly....OK. Good enough to finish the book, not good enough to re-read or recommend.

Subject: Suggestion

I just wanted to drop in to suggest that you buy the book as an ebook if at all possible as the author has set up a challenge wherein once 5000 ebooks have been purchased he will start on a sequel. www.michaelastackpole.com

Subject: Great choice!!!

Stackpole was one of the most underrated fantasy writers of the 90's. This book, Once a Hero, and Dark Glory War are some of the best heroic fantasy out there, while The Dragoncrown War Cycle is great for fans of more military-style fantasy.
