I'd go with the standard action shonen stuff (naruto, one piece) but one of my favorites used to be berserk, though I haven't read that in quite a while. It has an amazing art style.

I watched the entire dbz show as a kid, so I've never felt like reading the manga. Watched an episode a couple months back and it almost destroyed the great memories I had about watching it.

Yeah same here Kiddo. I was a big fan of Dragonball Z as a kid but when I saw on episode of the Namek saga (used to be my favourite) everything fell to pieces, I couldn't believe how bad the English voice acting was. Just goes to show that nostalgia isn't everything I think.

Gantz is phenomenal. I've also been reading Highschool of the Dead over the last little while too.

I read Bleach and Naruto weekly... stopped watching the anime years ago but been reading since about 2004.

Is Transformers considered Anime with it being American? If so, then Generation 1 is No. 1 on my list.

Also, I watched a few episodes of Death Note quite recently and it really annoyed me. The main character was very different from the norm which started off as interesting but then I got a bit agitated with how unrealistic a few of the characters were. I won't spoil it for anyone; I just wanted to say it wasn't really my cup of tea.

The greatest anime series I've ever had the privilege of seeing is none other than, Berserk... Followed by Record of Lodoss War at a close second... Then I'd have to go with Bleach and Naruto as ties for third.. Elfen Lied and Ruroni Kenshin come in 4th and 5th... So there's my top 5 of all time.

Berserk is one of the best, Death note in my opinion is the most well written, well structured story of all time across any platform. The original Ninja scroll anime is a classic, The Technoman series that I saw as a very young kid also springs to mind. Gun grave I thought was always a little under appreciated because while I don't think it is in the same league as anime/mangas like berserk it is is head and shoulders above alot of manga/anime that is out there. My personal favorite would have to be Guyver Bio booster armor it was the very first anime that I ever saw so I will admit memories of it tend to pursuade me in my thinking. I like Dragon Ball Z as well but I will admit when I watch the anime or read the manga now I find myself focusing on it's flaws. I never really got into Naruto not because I thought it was rubbish or anything like that it just never could hold me attention for very long.

    My top five...

    1) One Piece. It just gets my adrenaline going like no other. I used to religiously read the big 3. But Bleach and Naruto faded away. Naruto got lost in the wealth of characters. Bleach got repetitive. One Piece stayed consistent as fun and exciting and a "ripping good yarn".
    2) Hikaru no Go. About a boy and his imaginary friend. Just good.
    3) Berserk. There seems to be a general consensus about it here. Though the best bit of it was the part the anime focused on.
    4) Monster. I'm surprised no one's mentioned it. Really good.
    5) I"s. I read it when I was young. It struck a chord that never stopped thrumming.

Honorable mentions: Beck, Slam Dunk, Death Note if only for an amazingly well thought out plot.
